About Us

Documentary and Music Video Production

Under a grant from the Kansas Dept of Commerce and the Creative Arts Industries Commission, our small nonprofit video production unit has told the stories of a number of Kansans who served in WWII. The Kansas Dept of Commerce also funded live streaming for musical acts during the pandemic.

Food collected for the local food bank.

Our Team

Dr. Phil Black is one of the three founding members and President/CEO of KPMC. He spent 14 years as an independent producer at Community Access TV of Salina (now Salina Media Connection). Like the other founding members, Dr, Black has been deeply involved in the Salina, KS community where KPMC was founded. Elected three times to the Salina School Board, Chair of the Salina Bicycle Advocacy Group, Chair of the Salina Waste Management Committee, and organizer of the Salina Zero Waste Initiative, Phil is also an active musician, the bass player for Don Wagner and Friends. Phil is also the primary videographer for the organization, occasionally bringing in technicians to help.

Ann Knowles, founding board member and current Vice President, has also been active in the Salina community. She has served on countless community boards and was at one time the Director of Salina Downtown, Inc. Ann was also the first woman to serve as the Director of Tourism for the State of Arizona.

Johnna Vosseller, CPA, founding board member and Secretary Treasurer, is a Certified Public Accountant who is the first person in the history of the Salina Board of Education to serve three terms in a row as president. Johnna has served as accountant and bookkeeper for a number of nonprofit organizations such as the North Salina Development Organization and the Marthin Luther King, Jr. Childcare Center.

Our Patrons

Because we are small and work primarily from grants, each project we undertake is chosen on a case-by-case basis. However, we welcome ideas and are more than happy to meet with those interested in starting a project.

Video Services

It starts with an idea...

Running cameras and editing footage is only part of the work. Perhaps the most important component is envisioning an idea and working out how that idea could be turned into reality.

Getting the footage...

Most of our video production is done in the field. This is partly by choice and partly out of necessity. We enjoy working out in the field, even if that means creating a studio out of a quiet space backed by a green screen.

The editing room - where the story emerges...

Editing is where the story comes to life. We take the rough video and audio footage, and painstakingly create a cohesive and entertaining visual experience. Editing involves weaving the right-brained creative process with the left-brained technical expertise for an unforgettable story of human resiliency and courage.
